They were in there for about 45 minutes and took 8 different needle samples to be sure they hit the mark and got different parts of the 2.5 cm tumor. They used a CT scan during the procedure. WebIf the area to be biopsied is a lymph node near the skin surface, this might be done with either local anesthesia (numbing medicine at the biopsy site) and sedation, or with general anesthesia (where the child is in a deep sleep). If the node (or tumor) is inside the chest or abdomen, general anesthesia typically is needed.
