WebOnce you hit 88.2khz~96khz and higher, perceptually you get some extra treble detail/noise, but it sounds the same from 88.2khz up to 384khz basically. So for the most part, above 48khz is kinda snake oil (like extended or HD encoding and shit). Then 44.1khz is defacto standard while 48khz is just a hair better.
